The first shot to feature is by @leetheginge78 who takes some amazing shots of England – in fact it’s definitely worth checking out his Instagram if you’re a sucker for a bit of old fashioned Great British Charm!
Lee’s countryside shots harp back to another time – and are truly beautiful.
Best view in the Cotswolds?
His winning shot is of Broadway Tower in Worcestershire, England. If you love a good view, then you need to get yourself here, and pronto – it’s often been described as one of the best views in the Cotswolds.
Broadway Tower is a place I’ve been meaning to visit for a couple of years now.
It’s a beautiful tower, surrounded with amazing views across the Cotswolds. There are several picturesque villages and small towns nearby which are all worth a visit.
Sat high up on a folly, this is the Cotswolds’ highest castle at 65ft, and the second highest point in the area, standing at 1024ft above sea level.
This pretty little tower is the brainchild of world-famous landscape gardener Capability Brown.
The UK is celebrating his work in October 2016 as he would have turned 300 on the 28th October.
The tower was built with funding from George William 6th Earl of Coventry in 1798.
It’s believed Lady Coventry wanted to find out whether the tower could be seen from her home in Worcester 22 miles away.
If history is your thing, part of the tower is dedicated to the tower’s architect William Morris, where you can see examples of his work.
The view from the top it is just as beautiful as the tower itself – in fact on a good day, it’s actually possible to see over 60 miles!
Nowadays it’s a tourist attraction and gives visitors incredible views over the landscape below. If you’re heading to the Cotswolds, then it’s one not to miss.
If you’ve got the munchies – there’s a cute little cafe called Morris & Brown, where you can grab breakfast, lunch or even a late afternoon snack.
There’s a lovely little shop where you can pick up some beautiful gifts made by up-and-coming British talent, and even a nuclear bunker within the grounds of the tower.
You can visit daily, and entry is £5 for adults.
Don’t forget to check out the village of Broadway on your way if you’re a big fan of beautiful villages – this one will definitely put a smile on your face, and it dates back to Roman times.
But if you’re after one of the best views in the Cotswolds – head up Broadway Tower!
